About the City
Toledo lies on Tanon Strait across from Negros Island and the city of San Carlos, Negros Occidental. Toledo City is home to the Philippines' largest copper mine, owned by Atlas Consolidated Mining and Development Corporation; concentrates from the mine are shipped from the port of Sangi near Toledo. Low-quality coal has also been mined in the area, but little coal is mined today. Important local crops include maize (corn) and coconuts. Toledo is connected to Cebu City, the provincial capital and second largest Philippine metropolitan area, by two stretches offroad that crossing the rugged spine of the island: the Naga-Uling Road and the alternate Manipis Road. A ferry runs between San Carlos and Toledo. During harvest season, migrant sugar workers from Cebu Island travel from Toledo to San Carlos to work in the sugar fields of Negros.

Chairman Ricardo Saludo graced Toledo's launching of the Citizens Service charter
Toledo City having been included among the model cities chosen by the Civil service commission (CSC) in showcasing the best red tape free practices in frontline service delivery was well-commended during the launching of its Citizens service charter.
TOLEDO LGU TO LAUNCH CITIZENS SERVICE CHARTER
The creation of a Citizen’s Charter was address to curb bureaucratic red tape that plague local government units (LGUs).
HINULAWAN FESTIVAL '09 BOOST TOLEDO'S PRIDE
The 2009 Hinulawan festival was every Toledano's pride having showcase contingents from 6 different schools in the City. (U.V., Luray II NHS, Voctl. School, La Salle, Consolatrix College, DAS NHS) who performed the fest at their best.
Fluvial Procession '09 highlights the feast day of St.John of Sahagun
This year's fluvial parade in honor of Snr. San Juan de Sahagun was held last June 11, 2009, 5:00 a.m and highlighted the festivity at sea.
It paved a solemn way in thanking the patron saint for all the blessings the City has received through the years.

ORIENTATION OF SRA SCHOLARS PARENTS

TOLEDO CITY CITIZENS SERVICE CHARTER LAUNCHING
On June 29, 2009, Toledo LGU will launch its citizens service charter in the City , 100 P.M. at the Barba Sports Complex. This is to be witnessed by department heads and barangay captains of the City together with the City officials and the heads of the Civil Service Commission.
E-GWEN EVALUATION (3RD & FINAL EVALUATION)
As finalist of the E-Gwen Program of the Province of Cebu, evaluators of the program will visit and evaluate for the 3rd and final evaluation on June 26, 2009. Everyone is requested to continue maintaining the cleanliness inside & outside the respective offices.
MEETING: SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT ACT OF 2009
Pursuant to Republic act no. 9003, otherwise known as the Solid Waste Management Act of 2009, mandating all local government units to implement waste segregation in the respective locality and penalizing persons violating thereto, the City is inviting concerned personnel to a meeting to be conducted by the City ENRO.
