Toledo LGU & GICS hOst Hinulawan Photo Contest

costumes galore......costumes galore......The Toledo LGU thru Mayor Arlene Zambo & the Government Information & Computer Services (GICS) conducted the 1st Hinulawan Photo Contest on June 17, 2008 at the Barba Sports Complex. Said contest was joined in by photography afficionados, hobbyist,freelance photographers & budding photojournalists from Cebu City and in the City as well.

The contest open to all amateur and professional photographers, in film or with digital cameras, and whose pictures were originally taken, mounted in 5R color prints shall be  submitted to GICS.It has two(2) categories, that of Category I-Hinulawan festival and Category II-that of the Fiesta highlights.Exciting events & human interest such as those taken during the fluvial procession, or any related activities during the span of the fiesta celebration. A maximum of ten (10) photos were submitted to the in-charge,Rex Jose Ybanez.The chosen Best picture will win the prize.

The renowned judges who came to judge for the Best Pictures were the Chief Photographer of Sunstar,Cebu - Alex Badayos; Staff Photographer of Sunstar,Cebu-Allan Defensor and Toledo's award-winning artist - Marvin Natural. After series of deliberations, the winners of Category II emerged; 3rd place- Juliemar Monera (Juliemar Photography) (Fr.Jimmy spread incense to the patron San Juan de Sahagun),2nd place- Rudy Tangpus (Snapshot)acolytes in the church; 1st place - Perla Villegas (freelance photographer) with the image of San Juan De Sahagun as carried by the crew of the
mother boat;

Category I that of Hinulawan festival - 3rd place Rudy Tangpus (dancers of Hinulawan-UV); 2nd place-Juliemar Monera -Hinulawan dance from Consolatrix College and the 1st place goes to Rey Dacalos (c.A. dancers of the Hinulawan). While the contest was on-going, the staff of GICS made a slideshow of highlight photos during the fiesta celebration.
