RE: strict implementation of RA 9211 (Tobacco Regulation Act of 2003 and RA 8749 (Clean air act)

As citizens of the protected by the state,we are calling your attention to the above-cited two laws that mandate the local government units to implement the smoking ban in public offices and places.

The above-mentioned laws are not enforced at all by our government agencies, to the detriment of the health of the people and our fragile ecosystem. The dangers posed by smoking is an accepted reality. Smoking causes cancer and heart attack. Yet countless children, women and men
are victimized each day by second hand smoking. Sadly, it is the single most preventable cause of death.

Cigarette butts, which contain hazardous chemicals, are also thrown indiscriminately and top the list of the most discarded
waste in our planet.

As concerned citizens who care about the well-being of our children,and our families, we requests you to take the lead in ensuring that a strictly-nop-smoking policy be immediately implemented , pursuant to Section 5 of RA 9211, and
section 24 of RA 8749. You can count on us to help the local government units in the education and awareness campaign to implement the laws.

we are citizens who desire that the aforesaid laws be strictly enforced for the good of all. We earnestly look forward to your kind and
timely response and action pursuant to RA 9485, the anti-red tpe act of 2007. 3
