Fluvial Procession '09 highlights the feast day of St.John of Sahagun

This year's fluvial parade in honor of Snr. San Juan de Sahagun was held last June 11, 2009, 5:00 a.m and highlighted the festivity at sea.
It paved a solemn way in  thanking the patron saint for all the blessings the City has received through the years.

Fireworks display and honking of horns signalled the opening of the fluvial parade.  The image of the patron saint was carried in the mother boat (owned by Dario Surig)  along with the devoted parishioners and the parish priests and acolytes. It was convoyed with the pumpboat carrying
the drum & bugle corps(Dario Surig)  and one pumpboat (owned by Felipe Lumangtad)  carrying other devotees and Melrivic IX (guests and visitors). The arrival was welcomed by   Mayor Arlene Zambo,Vice-Mayor Rudy Espinosa, Councilor Felicisima Macapobre, Board Member Ian Zambo,SK Fed. Pres. Vince Zambo.

Following the fluvial procession, where rows of fully-decorated pumpboats each with neon colored banners and fiesta flaglets. The parade at sea took its first route  going to Bato and then on to Brgy. Sto. Nino. There was also a participation from the DPWH jetski,rubber boat by Philip Solon, the Bantay Dagat Asso.,  and other private pumpboats.

This years fluvial parade was spearheaded by the Toledo LGU through  City Administrator  Engr. Avelino Zambo Jr., assisted by chosen core group from CMO, staff of SK Fed. Vince Zambo, and Board member Zambo. This was also fully supported by the  Fluvial Parade working committees and the different mandated chapel  organizations of the Parish, schools in Toledo,public and private organizations such as Cebeco who also photoshoot and cover video for the activity and CMO GICS for documentation.

 

There were also trisikad and tricycles fully-decorated who convoy with the procession upon the arrival of the image at the pier. There were groups from the Predators, Tomtreks, Nerds and students waved flaglets as the image passed by their way. Selected students also dance in welcoming the patron saint namely UV dancers at the arcade area and the Consolatrix College
in front of the church. The police, PNP traffic, coastguards,Cebu Port Authorities, and other core personnels do their part also in the crowd-control , safety and security measures of the activity.

The image arrival in church was welcomed  by parishioners and devotees of  St. John of Sahagun.A mass was held in honor of it's festivity and in gratefulness for the abundant blessings the City has reached and had been showered through the years.
