Orley Ypon a native of Barangay Sto. Nino, this city, is a full timeartist and accepts commissioned work from art lovers who see him as an artist to watch. The pride of Cebu and he will be one someday. Orley was the first to win Grand Prizes in ArtPetron. His Ober-oberwon in ArtPetron I and his Pamaling in ArtPetron 4. Finding inspiration for Ober-ober was easy. The popular slipper game, the topiic of his painting was played everyday by young boys just outsidethe tiny studio where he painted daily. It was a piece of cake therforefor him to to grew up with playing. when it was time to submit his entry, Orley had a delimma on how to send it. He did not trust the freight forwarders to handle his precious master piece. Besides he did chose to endure a 21 hour boat ride from Cebu to Manila. Upon arival in Manila hehad totake a bus and a jeeney, and walked for fifteen minutes to get to the doorstep of the ArtPetron Office in Bel-Air Village in Makati City, His entry was submitted on time but his ordeal did not end there. He had no place to stay in the city. But the resourceful Cebuano that he is, he called on his artist friends or friends of the artists to adopt him for a day or two. He paid for room and board with a painting. He even reached as far asTanay just to sleep for the night, he stayed on in Manila, confident he would win top honors. Orley's Pamaling on the other hand, rekindled his chilhood memory of Toledo, His hometown where he was born and raised. It was where his love for nature and art was born.
