Viva Sr. Sto. Ñino!!
Sinulog is a highly celebrated festival in Cebu. It is known around the globe for its remarkable street dancing in honor of the feast of Sñr. Sto. Niño. It usually takes place every 3rd Sunday of January every year. “Viva Pit Señor, Viva Sñr. Sto. Niño”, a famous praise line reverberates from the streets coming from the devotees.
Likewise, Toledanos and The City Government of Toledo headed by the Dynamic Mayor, Hon. Arlene E. Zambo celebrates their own version of Sinulog on every last Sunday of January. This is done yearly by the Toledanos to give praise & thanks to the Holy Child for the various graces, protection from calamities that hit the country.
Last January 28, everybody was excited to witness the most awaited event. Before such revelry takes place, a mass was observed at Toledo National Vocational Quadrangle, Brgy. Ilihan, Toledo City officiated by Rev. Fr. Raul Gallego, parish priest of the city. Participating tribes assembled at the Quadrangle and awaits the go signal of the parade and exactly 1 o clock in the afternoon the street dancing started. The route started at TNVS going to Sangi Junction proceeding to City Central Schools.
The participating tribes offer dances to Señor Sto. Niño and offer financial help for the continuous construction of St. John of Sahagun Church.\
